Karachi town chairman arrested on terrorism and attempted murder charges for assault on government employee

In a clash between government authorities and the Chanesar Town in Karachi, Chanesar Town chairman Farhan Ghani and his associates were arrested and remanded in a terrorism and attempted murder case for assaulting a government employee overseeing fibre optic network laying work. The incident was initiated by disputing permissions granted for the digging of Sharea Faisal. However, Farhan's elder brother, local government minister and senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader Saeed Ghani states that it is not a political matter and will be addressed through legal means. The police have registered a case against Farhan and his associates for various offences, and the complainant, a government employee, alleges that he was illegally confined and beaten at gunpoint.

The Karachi Anti-Terrorism Court has remanded Farhan Ghani, brother of PPP Minister Saeed Ghani, and several others to police custody until August 28th.
